Its Mile 0 signs stand at both ends, in Victoria and in St. John’s. This journey follows the same idea from coast to coast, with a few detours to the places Canadians are proudest of.

Start in Victoria and Vancouver, with the Butchart Gardens, Stanley Park, totem poles, an Inuit inukshuk and the vineyards of the Okanagan, then climb into the Rocky Mountains: Emerald Lake, the Banff Springs Hotel, Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, then north along the Icefields Parkway past Peyto Lake and the Athabasca Glacier to Spirit Island in Jasper. From there a detour to the far north brings the northern lights over Yellowknife.

Back in the south, the road crosses the prairies from Calgary past Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, the canola fields of Saskatchewan and the domes of Regina and Winnipeg, where a train runs north to the polar bears of Churchill on Hudson Bay. Then come the red rocks of Lake Superior, Flowerpot Island and the autumn forests of Algonquin Park, the CN Tower and Casa Loma in Toronto, Niagara Falls, Fort Henry and the Thousand Islands, Parliament Hill and the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, the basilicas of Montreal and the Château Frontenac in Quebec City.

The Atlantic stretch visits Percé Rock, the tides of Fundy, the Confederation Bridge, Prince Edward Island, Halifax, Peggy’s Cove, the Cabot Trail and Louisbourg, then crosses to Newfoundland for Gros Morne, the Vikings of L’Anse aux Meadows, Cape Spear and the colourful houses of St. John’s. Each stop you finish unlocks the next.

["post-2802","journey","type-journey","status-publish","hentry
["GET
