Esto se debe a que las monta\u00f1as est\u00e1n sobre una falla: durante millones de a\u00f1os el bloque de la cordillera se ha inclinado hacia arriba mientras el fondo del valle se hund\u00eda. El Grand Teton, la cumbre m\u00e1s alta, alcanza 4.199 metros. El Parque Nacional de Grand Teton se cre\u00f3 en 1929 y despu\u00e9s se ampli\u00f3 para incluir la mayor parte del valle.
