Cuando el tronco viejo se pudre, los \u00e1rboles j\u00f3venes quedan en fila recta sobre ra\u00edces como zancos. Los uapit\u00edes pastan por el bosque y mantienen despejado el sotobosque, y cerca corre el r\u00edo Hoh, alimentado por los glaciares del monte Olympus. El Parque Nacional Olympic se cre\u00f3 en 1938 y abarca monta\u00f1as, bosque lluvioso y una costa salvaje del Pac\u00edfico.
