Se form\u00f3 cuando el agua se congelaba en las grietas de la roca durante la glaciaci\u00f3n y romp\u00eda grandes trozos, dejando la lengua. Llegar hasta ella es una de las rutas populares m\u00e1s duras de Noruega: unos veintisiete kil\u00f3metros ida y vuelta, que llevan de diez a doce horas.
