El arquitecto Moshe Safdie lo dibuj\u00f3 primero como proyecto de estudiante en la Universidad McGill, y se construy\u00f3 para la Expo 67, la exposici\u00f3n universal celebrada el a\u00f1o en que Canad\u00e1 cumpli\u00f3 100 a\u00f1os. La mayor\u00eda de sus viviendas tiene un jard\u00edn sobre el tejado de la caja de abajo, y los huecos entre las cajas dejan pasar la luz y el aire. Todav\u00eda vive gente all\u00ed, y es uno de los edificios m\u00e1s conocidos de Canad\u00e1.
