El mont\u00edculo es un tell, formado capa a capa por asentamientos desde hacia el a\u00f1o 2300 a. C. hasta el siglo XVI. Durante buena parte de ese tiempo fue la capital de Dilmun, una antigua civilizaci\u00f3n comercial que un\u00eda Mesopotamia con el valle del Indo. El fuerte de piedra de la cima lo construyeron los portugueses, que dominaron Bar\u00e9in en el siglo XVI.
