Lo construy\u00f3 durante unos treinta a\u00f1os, a finales del siglo XVIII y principios del XIX, el emir Bashir Shihab II, que gobern\u00f3 el Monte L\u00edbano durante medio siglo. Artesanos locales y arquitectos de Damasco decoraron sus salas con m\u00e1rmol, mosaicos y techos de madera pintada.
