Es famoso por el complejo tur\u00edstico de su orilla, cuyos edificios de tejado rojo se levantan entre jardines junto al agua. A poca distancia, el lago Kachura Superior es m\u00e1s profundo y tranquilo, de agua azul y clara. Skardu es el punto de partida de las expediciones al K2 y al glaciar del Baltoro.
