En el siglo III, su reina, Zenobia, se separ\u00f3 de Roma y durante unos a\u00f1os gobern\u00f3 un imperio que iba de Egipto a Anatolia. El arco monumental se alzaba en un recodo de la gran calle columnada de la ciudad y disimulaba el cambio de direcci\u00f3n. Fue destruido en 2015; esta foto lo muestra como era antes.
