Sus casas de comerciantes, altas y estrechas, pintadas de rojo, naranja y ocre, son sobre todo de los siglos XVII y XVIII. En 1520 la plaza fue escenario del Ba\u00f1o de Sangre de Estocolmo, cuando el rey dan\u00e9s Cristi\u00e1n II hizo ejecutar a m\u00e1s de ochenta nobles y cl\u00e9rigos suecos. Hoy la antigua bolsa, en uno de sus lados, alberga el Museo del Premio Nobel, y en diciembre la plaza se llena con un mercado navide\u00f1o.
