Solo unas 600 viven en South Luangwa y sus alrededores, separadas de otras jirafas por las laderas empinadas del valle. Como todas las jirafas, pueden pasar d\u00edas sin beber, porque obtienen casi toda el agua de las hojas de acacias y otros \u00e1rboles.
