Desde hacia 2010, fuertes lluvias han subido su nivel varios metros, inundando la antigua orilla, ahogando \u00e1rboles y haciendo el agua menos salada. Ese cambio ha hecho el lago m\u00e1s acogedor para los hipop\u00f3tamos y los peces, aunque ahora se re\u00fanen aqu\u00ed menos flamencos que antes. Los hipop\u00f3tamos pasan el d\u00eda en el agua para refrescarse y salen de noche a pastar, caminando varios kil\u00f3metros.
