Sus palmerales se riegan desde hace siglos con aflaj, canales subterr\u00e1neos que traen el agua de las monta\u00f1as, y sus oasis y yacimientos arqueol\u00f3gicos son Patrimonio de la Humanidad. Alrededor de la ciudad las dunas se extienden hacia el desierto, y al sur se eleva la cresta rocosa de Jebel Hafeet.
