Las coladas de lava de la monta\u00f1a llegaron al mar en esta zona, por eso las playas de esta costa tienen arena volc\u00e1nica oscura, y un arroyo de agua dulce y fresca baja hasta la orilla. La propia Limbe fue fundada en 1858 por un misionero brit\u00e1nico y es conocida por su antiguo jard\u00edn bot\u00e1nico.
