Su agua est\u00e1 te\u00f1ida de marr\u00f3n oscuro por los taninos de las hojas ca\u00eddas, como un t\u00e9 fuerte, por eso refleja los \u00e1rboles casi como un espejo. Bajo estos bosques se encuentra la mayor turbera tropical del mundo, que almacena enormes cantidades de carbono, y los pantanos que rodean el lago T\u00e9l\u00e9 albergan muchos gorilas occidentales de llanura.
