Lo construyeron los italianos entre 1887 y 1932; qued\u00f3 muy da\u00f1ado durante la larga guerra y en los a\u00f1os noventa y dos mil lo reconstruyeron con mimo ferroviarios jubilados, usando las antiguas locomotoras de vapor. Hoy todav\u00eda circulan trenes especiales de vapor por la l\u00ednea entre Asmara y Arbaroba.
