About Observatory on Mauna Kea at Sunset

Mauna Kea, a dormant volcano on the Big Island, rises 4,207 metres above the sea, and more than 10,000 metres from its base on the ocean floor, making it the tallest mountain on Earth measured that way. Its summit sits above most of the clouds in dry, still air, so some of the world's largest telescopes were built there. For Native Hawaiians it is a sacred place, home of the gods.

Puzzle tip: the glowing sky is the brightest part; the dark mountain and the observatory come next.
