About South America

You can piece together Machu Picchu and the Andes of Peru, Christ the Redeemer and the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, Iguazu Falls, the salt flats of Bolivia and the glaciers and granite peaks of Patagonia. There are also the Galápagos Islands with their giant tortoises, the moai of Easter Island and Angel Falls pouring from a table mountain in Venezuela.

The Andes run for about 7,000 kilometres along the western edge of the continent, from Venezuela to the tip of Patagonia, and Aconcagua in Argentina, at 6,961 metres, is the highest mountain outside Asia. In the east, the Amazon carries more water to the sea than any other river, while the Atacama Desert in Chile is one of the driest places on Earth.

Newer puzzles reach the three smaller countries of the north and the heart of the continent: Kaieteur Falls and the Rupununi savanna in Guyana, the wooden houses of Paramaribo and the rivers of Suriname, and the Jesuit mission ruins, the Saltos del Monday and the capital, Asunción, in Paraguay.
