Suriname Puzzles

Suriname is the smallest country in South America, on the north-eastern coast between Guyana and French Guiana. Rainforest covers more than nine-tenths of its land, and most people live in and around the capital, Paramaribo. Our Suriname puzzles show its wooden capital and its rivers and forests.

About Suriname

The Dutch made Suriname a plantation colony in 1667, when they kept it in exchange for New Amsterdam, today's New York. Enslaved Africans who escaped into the forest founded the free Maroon communities that still live along the rivers. Suriname became independent in 1975; Dutch is the official language, and its people have roots in Africa, India, Java, China, Europe and the Indigenous peoples of the Amazon.

You can assemble the wooden Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, the white houses of old Paramaribo, a World Heritage Site, Fort Zeelandia from above, the rapids and boats of the upper Suriname River and the view from Brownsberg over the Brokopondo Lake.
