About Taro Fields of Hanalei Valley, Kauaʻi

The flooded fields of Hanalei Valley on Kauaʻi grow taro, or kalo, a plant whose root was the most important food of old Hawaii, pounded into a paste called poi. The valley produces a large share of all the taro grown in Hawaii. Much of it is a national wildlife refuge, where endangered Hawaiian waterbirds such as the nēnē goose and the Hawaiian stilt feed among the fields.

Puzzle tip: the patchwork of green fields is the key; the mountains and the sky come next.
