About Rocky Coast of Acadia, Maine

Acadia National Park covers much of Mount Desert Island on the coast of Maine. It began in 1916 as a national monument, became Lafayette National Park in 1919, the first national park east of the Mississippi, and was renamed Acadia in 1929. Its shore is made of pink granite, cracked and rounded by the waves of the Atlantic. Spruce and fir forests grow right down to the rocks, and the Ocean Path follows the cliffs for several kilometres. This photo shows the rugged shore, the forest and the calm sea.

Puzzle tip: start with the sea and sky, then work along the edge of the cliffs, and finish with the green forest.
