About Badshahi Mosque at Dusk, Lahore

The Badshahi Mosque in Lahore was built between 1671 and 1673 on the orders of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, opposite the gate of Lahore Fort. It is made of red sandstone, with three white marble domes and four tall minarets at the corners of its vast courtyard, which can hold tens of thousands of worshippers. For more than three hundred years it was the largest mosque in the world. In the evening light, as in this photo, the red stone and the white domes glow against the darkening sky.

Puzzle tip: the white domes and minarets are clear landmarks; the red walls and the sky fill in around them.
