About Dunes and Lagoons of Lençóis Maranhenses

Lençóis Maranhenses National Park in north-east Brazil looks like a desert, but it gets plenty of rain. From about March to September, rainwater fills the hollows between its white dunes, creating thousands of blue and green lagoons. Some even have fish, whose eggs are thought to be carried in by birds. By the end of the dry season, most of the lagoons have vanished again.

Puzzle tip: sort the white sand from the blue and green water first; the curving edges help pieces fit.
