About Waimea Canyon, Kauaʻi

Waimea Canyon on Kauaʻi is about 16 kilometres long and more than 900 metres deep. The writer Mark Twain is said to have called it the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Its red, orange and green layers were formed by lava flows and then cut by rivers draining the rain from Mount Waiʻaleʻale, one of the wettest spots on Earth.

Puzzle tip: sort the red rock and green slopes by colour; the sky comes last.
