About Brighton Bathing Boxes, Melbourne

About eighty small wooden bathing boxes stand in a row on the sand at Brighton, a seaside suburb of Melbourne. They were first built in the nineteenth century so that bathers could change in private, and they still have no electricity or running water. Owners paint them in bright colours and patterns, but strict rules protect their simple old shape, and they are among the most photographed sights in Melbourne.

Puzzle tip: each box has its own colours; the sand and the sky are the slow parts.
