About Mambilla Plateau, Taraba State

The Mambilla Plateau in Taraba State is the highest plateau in Nigeria, lying at about 1,600 metres on the border with Cameroon. Its height makes it much cooler than the lowlands, so it has rolling grassland instead of hot savanna, and tea is grown here on large estates. Fulani herders graze their cattle on its hills, and Chappal Waddi, the highest mountain in Nigeria, rises not far away. This photo shows green ridges and valleys under heavy, dramatic clouds.

Puzzle tip: start with the bright green slopes in front, then the darker ridges, and leave the grey clouds for last.
