About Colourful Houses above Port-au-Prince

Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, spreads from a wide bay up into steep green mountains. On the hillsides around the city, houses painted in bright colours are built closely together, one above the other, along narrow lanes and stairways. Haiti became independent in 1804 after a revolution led by people who had been enslaved, making it the first free Black republic in the world.

Puzzle tip: sort the houses by colour first; the trees and the sky come last.
