About ʻAkaka Falls, Hawaiʻi

ʻAkaka Falls drops about 135 metres into a deep gorge on the Hāmākua coast, north of Hilo on the Big Island. A short loop trail through the state park leads through a rainforest of bamboo, wild ginger, orchids and giant ferns to viewpoints over the falls and over the smaller Kahūnā Falls. Tiny native fish called ʻoʻopu can climb waterfalls using a sucker on their belly.

Puzzle tip: the white ribbon of water is the centre; the green forest needs patience.
