About Rainbow Falls, Hilo

Rainbow Falls, on the Wailuku River in the town of Hilo, drops about 24 metres over a lava cave into a wide pool. On sunny mornings the mist rising from the falls often forms a rainbow, which gives the falls its name. In Hawaiian it is called Waiānuenue, meaning rainbow water, and legend says the cave behind it was the home of Hina, mother of the demigod Māui.

Puzzle tip: the white falls and the dark pool are the key; the green leaves and rocks need patience.
