About Leaning Palms on a Bora Bora Beach

Palm trees on tropical beaches often lean out over the water. They grow towards the light of the open sky, and the trade winds and the soft, sandy ground slowly tip them seawards. The leaning helps the palms spread their seeds, too: ripe coconuts drop into the sea, float on the currents for weeks and can sprout on a distant shore. That is how coconut palms reached many islands of the Pacific long before people did.

Puzzle tip: the big green palm leaves are the hardest part, so save them for last; start with the blue sky and the water.
