About Lifebuoy on a Palm, Bora Bora

An orange lifebuoy hangs on a palm trunk on a quiet beach in Bora Bora, with Mount Otemanu and its neighbour Mount Pahia rising across the lagoon. These two peaks are what is left of the volcano that built the island some three to four million years ago. As the old volcano slowly sank, coral kept growing upwards around it, forming the reef and the lagoon. In millions of years, Bora Bora may become a ring-shaped coral atoll.

Puzzle tip: the orange lifebuoy is the easiest piece to find; the mountains and the shadows on the sand come next.
