About Eagle Lake, Acadia National Park

Eagle Lake is one of the largest lakes on Mount Desert Island and supplies drinking water to the nearby town of Bar Harbor, so swimming in it is not allowed. A carriage road runs around its shore, part of a network of about 70 kilometres of broken-stone roads built for horse-drawn carriages by John D. Rockefeller Jr. between 1913 and 1940. Today the roads are used by walkers, cyclists and, in winter, cross-country skiers. In this photo the calm lake reflects green hills, reeds and a pale sky.

Puzzle tip: build the green hills and their reflection first, then fill the open water by its shades.
