About Road through the Cape Breton Highlands

On its way across the Cape Breton Highlands, the Cabot Trail climbs French Mountain and MacKenzie Mountain in long switchbacks with lookouts over the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The road was first built in the 1920s and 1930s, when much of the work was done with horses and hand tools, and its steep sections are famous among cyclists. The highlands were named by Scottish settlers who arrived in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and found landscapes like those they had left behind. In this aerial photo the road curves through dense green forest on the slopes.

Puzzle tip: follow the road from one bend to the next, then fill the green forest around it.
