About Lake Louise and Victoria Glacier

Lake Louise is named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, a daughter of Queen Victoria; the province of Alberta takes its name from her too. At the far end of the lake, the Victoria Glacier hangs on the side of Mount Victoria, on the Continental Divide. The Canadian Pacific Railway built a chalet on the shore in 1890, which grew into today's large hotel. In winter the frozen lake becomes a skating rink. This photo shows the green-blue water leading to the white glacier between dark mountain walls.

Puzzle tip: begin with the white glacier and snowy peak, then the dark slopes, and finish with the lake.
