About Cabot Tower on Signal Hill, St. John's

Cabot Tower stands on Signal Hill above the harbour of St. John's, the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador and one of the oldest cities in North America. It was built of stone between 1898 and 1900 to mark 400 years since John Cabot's voyage to Newfoundland and the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Signal Hill takes its name from the flags once raised here to tell the town which ships were coming in, and in 1901 Guglielmo Marconi received the first radio signal sent across the Atlantic on this hill. In this photo the tower and its flag stand against a deep blue sky.

Puzzle tip: start with the stone tower and the flag, then the grass and the small figures of visitors, and finish with the blue sky and the clouds.
