About Seaside Shelters at Cristo Rei, Dili

Along the road to Cristo Rei, east of the centre of Dili, the shore is lined with palm trees, small shelters with pointed roofs and stalls where families buy grilled fish and coconuts. The pointed roofs recall the uma lulik, the sacred houses of Timor-Leste, with their steep roofs of palm thatch, which every village keeps for its ancestors and ceremonies. Dili itself lies on the northern coast of Timor, facing the narrow strait towards the island of Ataúro, and much of the country's coffee is shipped from its port.

Puzzle tip: the shelters and palm trees are clear shapes; the water and the sky come last.
