About Colourful Boats at Anori on the Amazon

Anori is a small town on the banks of the Amazon in the Brazilian state of Amazonas, a day's boat journey upriver from Manaus. In Brazil this stretch of the river, above its meeting with the Rio Negro, is known as the Solimões. Wooden riverboats with painted hulls carry passengers, hammocks and cargo between the towns, and smaller canoes are used for fishing and visiting neighbours. Most of the town's supplies arrive by water. In this photo red and blue boats are moored together on the calm river, with forest on the far bank.

Puzzle tip: the painted boats give you strong colours to start with; the calm water and the far forest come next.
