About Facade of the Citadel of Qaitbay, Alexandria

The Citadel of Qaitbay was finished around 1480, at a time when the Mamluk sultans feared attacks on Egypt from the sea. Its square main keep has a small mosque inside, and its outer walls are lined with rooms for soldiers. Later rulers repaired and armed it with cannon, and it was badly damaged when British ships bombarded the city in 1882. Restored in the 20th century, it is now a museum. In this photo a broad stone path leads between palm trees to the citadel's main gate.

Puzzle tip: the stone path in front leads you straight to the gate; the palm trees and the towers come next.
