Egypt is the land of the pharaohs, where one of the world's first great civilisations grew up along the River Nile. Our Egypt puzzles show the pyramids and the Sphinx, the temples of Luxor and Aswan and the historic mosques of Cairo.
Philae Temple, Aswan
Ancient Temple Columns, Luxor
Sultan Hassan and Al-Rifa’i Mosques, Cairo
The Great Sphinx of Giza
Pyramids of Giza
The Pyramids of Giza were built about 4,500 years ago as tombs for kings, and the Great Pyramid was the tallest building on Earth for almost 4,000 years. It is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing. The Great Sphinx, with the body of a lion and a human head, guards the plateau in front of them.
Further south, the temples of Luxor are filled with giant columns carved with hieroglyphs. The temple of Philae near Aswan was moved stone by stone to a higher island in the 1970s to save it from the rising waters of a new dam.
