About Step Pyramid of Djoser, Saqqara

The Step Pyramid at Saqqara, built around 2650 BC for King Djoser, is the oldest of Egypt’s pyramids and one of the oldest large stone buildings in the world. Its architect, Imhotep, began with a flat-topped tomb and kept adding smaller layers on top until it rose in six steps to about 60 metres. Saqqara was the great burial ground of Memphis, the old capital, and the pyramids of Giza were built about a century later on the same idea. The photo was taken during a long restoration, which ended when the pyramid reopened in 2020.

Puzzle tip: start with the steps of the pyramid and the scaffolding on its side; the sand and the sky go last.
