About The Great Sphinx of Giza

The Great Sphinx is a giant limestone statue with the body of a lion and the head of a king, carved from the bedrock of the Giza plateau around 4,500 years ago, probably for the pharaoh Khafre. It is about 73 metres long and 20 metres high. For much of its history it was buried up to its shoulders in sand, and it has been dug out and repaired many times since ancient times.

Puzzle tip: the carved face is the easiest part; the sand-coloured body and the ground need patience.
