About this quiz

Each question starts with a close-up of a famous place: a corner of a tower, a carved doorway, a slice of a waterfall. Name it from four answers. If you need more, zoom out to see more of the photo. A right answer from the close-up is worth a point, after zooming out half a point.

There are about a hundred landmarks, from the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal to Machu Picchu, Uluru and Victoria Falls. Every photo comes from one of our jigsaw puzzles: after each answer you read one fact about the place, and the link takes you to its puzzle.

Africa

Africa's landmarks in this quiz include the Pyramids and the Great Sphinx of Giza, the temples of Luxor, the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, Victoria Falls, Mount Kilimanjaro, the blue town of Chefchaouen, Deadvlei in Namibia and the Avenue of the Baobabs in Madagascar.

The photos are credited under each picture and on their puzzle pages.
