About Pyramid and Chapel at Meroë, Bajrawiya

Each pyramid at Meroë, near the village of Bajrawiya in Sudan, had a small chapel at its foot, built like an Egyptian temple gateway, where offerings were brought for the dead king or queen. The walls inside are carved with scenes of the rulers before the gods. The Kushite pyramids are much smaller and steeper than those of Giza, and many lost their tops in the 1830s, when an Italian treasure hunter broke into them looking for gold. This photo shows a pyramid with its chapel entrance in golden afternoon light.

Puzzle tip: start with the chapel gateway and its shadow, then the pyramid's stepped sides, and the sand and the sky last.
