About Guatapé Reservoir from El Peñol

The Peñol-Guatapé Reservoir, east of Medellín, was created in the 1970s when a valley was flooded to make a hydroelectric dam. The water now winds around hundreds of green islands and peninsulas. The best view is from the top of El Peñol, a giant rock rising 200 metres above the lake, reached by a staircase of more than 700 steps.

Puzzle tip: the islands and the water make clear shapes; the sky and clouds come last.
