About Ancient Stupas of Old Bagan at Sunrise

In 1044 King Anawrahta came to the throne of Pagan and made Theravada Buddhism the faith of his kingdom, starting a great age of temple building. Most of Bagan's temples are made of red brick and were once covered with white stucco; inside, many still have wall paintings of the life of the Buddha. Earthquakes, including strong ones in 1975 and 2016, have damaged many of the buildings over the centuries. This view from above shows stupas of different sizes rising among the trees in the morning light.

Puzzle tip: the stupas have clear outlines, so start with the largest; the trees between them come next.
