About Athabasca Glacier from the Wilcox Trail

The Wilcox Pass trail climbs from the Icefields Parkway into high alpine meadows with one of the best views of the Athabasca Glacier and the Columbia Icefield. Bighorn sheep often graze along the trail, and in summer the meadows fill with wildflowers. The pass was used by early travellers in the 1890s to avoid the glacier, which then reached much further down the valley. In this photo green meadows lead across to the glacier and the snowy peaks of Mount Athabasca and Mount Andromeda under passing clouds.

Puzzle tip: start with the white glacier and the clouds, then the dark mountains, and finish with the green meadows.
