About Balme Library, University of Ghana, Legon

The University of Ghana was founded in 1948 as the University College of the Gold Coast, the first university in the country, and moved to its campus on Legon Hill, north of central Accra. Its main library, opened in 1959, is named after David Mowbray Balme, the college's first principal. With its white walls, red-tiled roofs and tall clock tower, it is the best-known building on a campus planned around green lawns and long avenues. In this photo the library's clock tower rises behind palm trees, a lamp post and statues.

Puzzle tip: the clock tower and the red roofs are good places to start; the pale sky and the palm trunk come last.
