About Boats on the Niger River, Bamako

The Niger is the third-longest river in Africa, more than 4,000 kilometres long, and it flows right through Bamako, the capital of Mali. The river rises in the hills of Guinea, curves north to the edge of the Sahara and then turns south again to reach the sea in Nigeria. In Bamako its banks are busy with fishermen, washers and workers who dig sand from the riverbed for building. This aerial photo shows wooden boats moored along the brown water and the red earth of the bank.

Puzzle tip: start with the wooden boats and their colours, then the red earth of the bank, and the brown river last.
