About Canal in Petite France, Strasbourg

In Petite France the channels of the Ill are controlled by locks, and boats carrying visitors rise and fall between the old mills. Some of the houses lean slightly, their timber frames bent by centuries of settling into soft ground near the water. The quarter's name is said to come from a hospital built here in the sixteenth century for soldiers who had caught a disease then known as the French illness. In this photo half-timbered houses line both sides of a quiet canal, and their reflections are almost perfect in the still green water.

Puzzle tip: start with the half-timbered houses on both sides, then the bridge and the trees, and finish with the reflections and the sky.
