About Golden Lancehead in the Leaf Litter, Snake Island

The golden lancehead is listed as Critically Endangered, because it lives only on this one small island of about 43 hectares. Scientists estimate that a few thousand snakes live there, far fewer than popular stories claim. Illegal collecting for the pet trade and the loss of the island's forest are the main threats to its survival.

Puzzle tip: the curving body of the snake is a long golden line; the leaf litter around it is full of small brown and grey shapes.
